Fitchburg State Skates Past Rams 8-2

The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead just over four minutes into the game, and the Fitchburg scored the next eight goals.

With the loss, the Rams dip to 7-7-2 overall and 5-4-2 in the conference.

Senior Jay Nicholls and sophomore Ricky O’Connor each scored for the Rams, while sophomore Melvin Nichols, seniors Daniel Miressi  and Tom Tracy  and junior Dylan Cosford  all recorded assists for the Rams.

The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead just over four minutes into the game, but it was all the Falcons after that as they tied the score at 2-2 after one. They erupted for four second period goals including the game winner from John Celli just 28 seconds into the frame.  Martin would tack on a pair of third period goals to reach the final margin.

Fitchburg State outshot the Rams 50-40 in the game and converted 3-of-9 power plays, while the Rams were 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

The Rams are back in action on Tuesday evening when they host Franklin Pierce in a non-conference game beginning at 7:20 p.m. at Loring Arena in Framingham.
