Framingham Finishes 2nd in State Decathlon

Luke Halberstadt broke his own Framingham High record with a total of 5471 points and finished sixth overall out of more than 70 competitors.

The Flyers finishes in second place behind Salem at the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association (MSTCA) North Decathon Monday, June 9 in Burlington.

Halberstadt retains the Framingham High school record with 5471 points but Welch has another shot to get it next year, finishing with 5248 points this year, said head coach Chris Collins.

Halberstadt finished 6th overall and Welch 10th overall Monday.

Framingham High senior captain Luke Halberstadt and David Welch, a junior captain, both surpassed Halberstadt's school record score from last year. 

Junior Chris Elliott left a great impression for next year scoring 4736 points in his first attempt at the competition, and his first year of track, said Collins.

Paul Halberstadt rounded the Flyers squad and had a great day two, finishing 28th overall, out of 71 competitors, scoring 4484 points.

Other competitors for the Flyers on Monday included: Marc Umumbu, Tristan Perez, Andrew Kalizny, Tom Bogue, Dan Shapiro, Amir Parikh and Andrew Harrod.
