SLIDESHOW: Framingham Frogs Defeat Newton To Remain Undefeated

The past four years, the Framingham Frogs had been 0-4 against the Newton Blue Fish. Last night, the Frogs won the battle in the pool of the two undefeated summer swim teams.

Over the last eight years, the Framingham Frogs summer swim team and the Newton Blue Fish summer swim team each had identical records of 84-4.

Framingham won the first four meetings against Newton. But during the last four meetings of the two swimming powerhouses, the Blue Fish have been 4-0

Last night, July 22, Framingham came away the winner in the battle of the undefeated teams in the pool.

The Frogs defeated Newton 250.5 to 230.5.

Framingham started the meet down to Newton, but after the freestyle events the teams were almost even.

The Framingham Parks & Recreation co-ed swim team took a slight lead in the middle of the meet that held through the backstroke, where the lead grew to more than 20 points. That lead held through the relays.

This is the first loss for Newton  this year, and the first loss for Blue Fish in more than four years.

The winner of the Newton vs Framingham meet has gone on to win the league title the last eight years. Framingham is now 6-0 on the season.

Framingham still has a handful of meets this summer season.

The Framingham Frogs will host Natick tomorrow, July 24 at Keefe Technical's pool at 6 p.m. 

After Natick, the Frogs will travel to Walpole, for its second biggest meet of the season on Tuesday, July 29.
