The Framingham High Girls Swim & Dive Team won its tenth Bay State Conference Title in 10 years Sunday.

The Framingham High Girls Swim & Dive Team won its tenth Bay State Conference Title in 10 years over the weekend.

Framingham, with a score of 571 points, easily captured first place over rivals Needham, with 473 points and Newton North with 446.5 points.

"The team did great today. This was the 10th year in a row the girls have won the Bay State Conference Championship meet," said Framingham Head Coach Mike Foley.  "After going 12-2 this season (9-1 in the conference which put us in a three-way tie with Newton North and Needham) the girls came through in great fashion today"

"The team's motto heading into this championship season is 'Rise To The Occasion' which they certainly did today," said Foley.

"We won the opening event (200 yard medley relay) to get the meet off to a great start. Jessica Tjong, Allysa Grant, Ali Lie and Maddie Biron combined to win the event," said Foley.

Biron, a junior, was the team's only double winner on the day, winning both the 100 freestyle and the 50 freestyle, said Foley. Both times were school records, as well as new conference meet records.

Senior Erika Sheinhait finished second in the 50 freestyle, also under the old school record, said Foley.

She teamed up with Ali Lie, Amy Sheinhait and Erika Sheinahait to win the 200 freestyle relay, also in a new school record.

Lie, a junior, also won the 100 butterfly in a new school record.

Senior Jessica Tjong won the 100 backstroke.

Lie also finished second in the 200IM race, establishing anotehr school record, said Foley.

Seniors Maura Sticco Ivins and Alyssa Seales finished first and second in the diving event.

Senior Allysa Grant finished third in the 200IM and second in the 100 breaststroke.

Sophomores Emily Osborne, Rebecca Fintonis and Katie Nunes all qualified for south sectionals and or the state meet for the first time in their career.

The meet finished with Amy Sheinhiat, Devon Tice, Jessica Tjong and Allysa Grant finishing third in the 400 freestyle relay, to help put the meet out of reach for Needham or Newton North to catch the Flyers.

The team's big event was the 100 backstroke where the Flyers finished first with Tjong, second with Amy Sheinhait, fifth with Aja Matzker and sixth with McKenzie Connors, who amassed a total of 64 points in that one event, said Foley.
