Framingham State, Worcester Skate to a 3-3 Tie, After Overtime

Senior Nick Cafrelli picked up 42 saves for the Rams while Worcester State goalie Salvatore Tecci matched him with 42 saves of his own.

The Framingham State University ice hockey team battled back from a two goal deficit heading into the third period to earn a 3-3 tie against Worcester State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action Thursday evening at Framingham’s Loring Arena.

The Rams are now 3-1-1 on the young season and are 3-0-1 in the conference.

Framingham State grabbed a 1-0 lead just over eight minutes into the game on a goal from senior Daniel Miressi, but the Lancers responded with the tying goal with just over three minutes left in the period.

The Lancers staked themselves a two goal lead after two on goals from freshman Alex Dewitz and junior Andrew Bates.

Framingham State came back with three goals to start the third period and tie the game for good. Junior Brendan McCarron notched his fourth of the season and then senior Eric Ward tallied his fifth of the year to tie the score.

Neither team found the back of the net as each team took four shots in the extra session.

The Rams are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Fitchburg State for a Conference game beginning at 4 p.m.
