Memorial Day Soccer Tourney Expected to Draw Thousands

Organizers say the 30th Annual Memorial Day Classic Soccer Tournament will boost the local economy.

The Framingham United Soccer Club and the have partnered to bring new and exciting recreational components to the 30th Annual Memorial Day Classic Soccer Tournament.  

The tournament will run from Friday evening, May 27 through Sunday afternoon, May 29, attracting thousands of people to Framingham and promoting the Town’s wonderful recreation facilities and numerous local merchants.

The Memorial Day Classic Soccer Tournament features some of the best natural grass playing surfaces in the MetroWest area attracting teams from all over New England.  The tournament strives to showcase top quality play with an emphasis on good sportsmanship in a family friendly atmosphere.

is the tournament’s Platinum Sponsor for 2011.

 Several other local business’ have provided sponsorship including: , Natick Outdoor Sports Store, , , , , and Teamworks.

Tournament kick off on Friday night will showcase the newly-renovated , featuring two games under the lights.  Planned activities include a DJ, face painting, food, and raffle prizes, including tickets to see the New England Revolution vs. Manchester United game at Gillette Stadium on July 13th.  All tournament teams are welcome and may also conduct pre-registration during this time.   There are three games scheduled for under the lights at Bowditch Field. Gates open at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

On Saturday, May 28 from 5-8:30 p.m., open swim in the pool at the will be available to all tournament participants and their families.  Framingham Parks and Recreation will provide the lifeguards. We encourage you to bring your bathing suits.  

, centrally located to several game fields, is a 50+ acre passive recreation park which will be available throughout the duration of the tournament.  Families are encouraged to pack a picnic meal or grab some take-out food from the local merchants and head over to enjoy and explore the park.
