Rams Soccer Defeats Westfield State 3-1

Framingham State University is 7-11-1 overall and the No. 2 seed for the MASCAC postseason tournament

Junior midfielder Maycon Malta of Milford had two goals and an assist to lead Framingham State University to a 3-1 victory over Westfield State University in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer action on Saturday evening, Nov. 2. 

Framingham is 7-11-1 overall and the No. 2 seed for the MASCAC postseason tournament after compiling a 4-2-1 regular season conference record. Westfield finishes its season 5-12 and 2-5. 

The Owls jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute on an unassisted goal by Kristen Driscoll, one of 10 Westfield seniors playing for the final time at Alumni Field. Malta evened the score in the 31st minute and assisted on the game-winning goal by Bryan DaSilva in the 39th minute. Malta tacked on an insurance tally in the 50th minute.

Framingham outshot Westfield, 16-6, while the Owls led in corner kicks, 7-2.
