Boys Hockey

Tewksbury 2, North Andover 1

You can help you win games but you need a veteran presence down the stretch if you want to win championships That's exactly what Derek Petti has provided the Redmen over the second half of the season.

On Wednesday night, he scored twice and added an assist to lift Tewksbury past North Andover, 3-2.

After a scoreless first period, Tewksbury took command with a pair of second period power play goals by Petti and Pat Doherty. Petti's second of the game made it 3-0 in the third period and things seemed well in hand.

But North Andover wasn't finished, scoring a pair of late goals to make things interesting.

Sophomore Kyle Paquette made 22 saves to earn the victory in net. Ryan Petti assisted on all three Redmen goals.

With the win, Tewksbury improved to 11-2-1.

Girls Hockey

Tewksbury/Methuen 5, Newton South 2

Amanda Conway is setting a scoring mark in the first year of the Tewksbury High girls hockey program that may stand for quite a while.
