Robert Kraft Explains Audition Tape that Went Viral Wednesday

The Patriots owner said in a statement Wednesday that he regrets a movie audition video involving him and an aspiring actress going viral on YouTube.

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has danced in public before—remember the Patriots Super Bowl XXXVI celebration in Boston?

But his most recent dance moves, among other things, have been the topic of much public discussion Wednesday and were never meant for public viewing, according to a statement released by Kraft.

A YouTube video of Kraft and Ricki Noel Lander, which is being described as an audition tape for an upcoming Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson film, was first published on the blogging website Boston Barstool Sports’ Tuesday night and went viral by Wednesday morning.

Kraft addressed the video in a statement Wednesday.

“I tried to help Ricki [Noel Lander] prepare an audition tape for an upcoming Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson comedy by reading Wilson’s lines,” Kraft said in the statement. “I never intended that it would be made public and I regret that it has. I think we can all agree that Owen Wilson has nothing to worry about. I am going to stick to my day job.”

The YouTube video showed the Patriots’ owner reading lines with Noel Lander. One of those lines in particular raised some eyebrows because of its profanity, which then was followed with a fake punch thrown by Kraft at another reader in the room – all part of the script, of course.

WBZ-TV reports the video was meant to be seen by Vaughn and Wilson, who are making a movie called “The Internship,” which is in production for next year.

NBC Sports Pro Football Talk (PFT) reported Wednesday that Kraft, 71 and Noel Lander have been characterized by the Patriots’ owner as “pals.” The two were seen publicly together in Boston at Game Six of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals between the Celtics and Miami Heat.

YouTube has since taken down the audition video starring Kraft and Noel Lander, providing the following message: “This video contains content from Fox, who has blocked it on copyright grounds.”
