SLIDESHOW: Framingham Just Not Fast Enough for Needham, Wins Many Field Events

Framingham High senior captain Eric Mellusi broke the school's outdoor record in the shut put during the Needham meet at Bowditch Field on Wednesday.

Both the Framingham High boys and girls track teams lost to Needham High last week at Bowditch Field.

Sophomore Mike McDonald qualified for states in the 2 mile during the meet, said Framingham High head coach Chris Collins.

Framimgham High senior captain Eric Mellusi broke the school's outdoor record in the shot put, said Collins. He threw 52-feet, 1-inch.

Mellusi is now "#1 in the discus, and #3 in the shot put," said Collins.

In the girls meet, senior Nicole Salmela won the discus event with a throw of 90-feet, 8.5-inches.

Senior Nadia Kianfar took second in the shot put with a throw of 32-feet, 9-inches.

Framingham High swept the javelin event. Junior Mira Haddad won the event with a throw of 78-feet, 3-inch. Salmela took second and freshman Stefanie Evans finished third.

Framingham also swept the triple jump. with junior Kathryn McGovern winning with a leap of 29-feet, 1-inch. Senior Lisa Rusch took second and Savonna Small Brown finished third.

Brown won the long jump with a jump of 16-feet, 1-5-inches.

Sophomore Sydney Haiduk won the high jump with a leap of 4-feet, 8-inches.

Junior McGovern also won the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles races.
