SLIDESHOW: Friday Night Fights To Support Framingham Police

The event raised money for the Framingham Police Athletic League's boxing program.

Framingham Police Athletic League (PAL) hosting boxing matches Friday night at Nevins Hall inside the Memorial Building to raise funds for its youth boxing program.

For the first time the Framingham Police Athletic League had a fight card sanctioned by the U.S. Amateur Boxing.

The PAL boxing program is for kids, especially at-risk kids, to get learns some skills and get some discipline in their lives.

The most well-known alumni of the PAL boxing program is Danny O'Connor, a professional junior welterweight boxer, who just announced his retirement last week.

O'Connor plans, according to his podcast, plans to spend time with his family and focus on his broadcasting career. O'Connor, 29, has a new podcast show on WEEI called the Danny O Show. He handed out the awards Friday night.
