SLIDESHOW: Radio Station WSRO 650 Hosts Boston Celtic Vitor Faverani

The Boston Celtic basketball player, and Brazilian native appeared on the Voz do Brazil talk show at Framingham radio station WSRO 650 AM Tuesday afternoon.

Boston Celtic Vitor Faverani visited Framingham radio station WSRO 650 AM Tuesday afternoon.

Faverani, who signed with the Boston Celtics last July, is still recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to repair a torn lateral meniscus.

The 6-foot, 11-inch Brazilian native, started his pro career in 2005. Prior to signing with the Celtics, he play for the Brazilian national team and played professional basketball in Spain.

Faverani, 25, was interviewed on Voz do Brazil with Leandro Alves Tuesday afternoon at the radio station from 3 to 4 p.m.

Known to the community as Leandrinho, the talk show host was joined also by Frilei Brás (who normally hosts his own show at 10 a.m.) for the talk hour with Faverani. The show airs completely in Portuguese.

The call lines lit up to talk to him. Individuals called from Boston, Medford, Springfield, Framingham, Marlborough, Milford and other communities.

All day the radio station, thanks to the Boston Celtics was giving away a pair of tickets to a Celtics home game for the 2014-15 season. The Celtics have just one game left and did not make the playoffs this year.

Two of the winners were Jugmara Mello and Soarcly Paiva, both of Framingham. The two both rushed down the studio to pick up their vouchers and meet the star basketball player Tuesday afternoon.

WSRO 650 is the only Portuguese-based 24/7 Radio Station in the United States. Owned by the Langer Broadcasting Group it is located at 100 Mount Wayte Ave. in Framingham. Langer estimated that between 5,000 to 10,000 listeners tune into WSRO daily.
