With higher education costs growing, students and families may think they're being priced out of college.
These students and families should attend FAFSA Day, a free program providing assistance to families looking to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The event is Sunday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. at Framingham High School.
FAFSA is free to fill out. It is a single form that qualifies students for the nine federal student-aid programs, 605 state aid programs, and most institutional aid available. FAFSA is required for all students seeking federal financial aid for college.
On FAFSA Day, Framingham High School will offer one-on-one assistance, computer access, and online filing.
Students and parents should EACH bring the following. (Students born before January 1, 1990 do not need to bring parental information.)
- FAFSA Pin (www.pin.ed.gov)
- Social Security Number
- Driver's License number
- Most recent federal tax return
- Most recent W-2 or year-end pay stub
- Untaxed income records
- Bank statement(s)
- Business and investment records
- Alien Registration Card (if not a U.S. Citizen)
Students are encouraged but not required to register. To register, visit fafsaday.org.
