The Salem, N.H. farmer traveled to MetroWest Massachusetts, on his own dime, to deliver the plants, said spokesperson Jeanie Flynn.
He saw the segment on television about the Pearl Street Cupboard & Cafe and "wanted to donate to an establishment that was helping people every day," said Flynn.
Half of the plants have already been distributed to customers.
"They all left with smiles (and a lot of basil), added Flynn
But Framingham residents can still help to put more smiles on the faces of those in need.
This time of year, donations are slow due to vacations.
Individuals and families can make food and cash donation by calling 508-879-2063, said Flynn.
