Red Cross Worker Deployed to Support Wildfire Relief Effort in Arizona

Framingham native Ashley Studley of Brighton, who specializes in disaster public affairs, has been deployed to Arizona.

Press release from the American Red Cross

Red Cross volunteers right now are helping people affected by the blaze about 80 miles northwest of Phoenix, providing food, water, shelter and mental health services for those affected. The fire has forced hundreds of people to leave their homes.

Red Cross workers from the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts are now accepting deployments to help residents get back on their feet.

Framingham native Ashley Studley of Brighton, who specializes in disaster public affairs, has been deployed to Arizona. Studley was the Public Affairs Manager in Boston during the Red Cross’ response to the Marathon Bombing.

The wildfire has closed a major roadway in the area, dividing the response area almost in half.

Red Cross workers opened shelters on both sides of the fire to best help people in need. The Red Cross is working with officials to determine how to best support people in this community.

Studley, in accepting this deployment, is gaining more experience working with Red Cross experts throughout the U.S. When she returns to Massachusetts, her knowledge will help better inform our efforts, and help make our local region stronger.

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the tragic events in Yarnell, Arizona.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the 19 brave firefighters who lost their lives protecting their community.
