Scouts, Families, Volunteers Needed to Place Flags on Veterans Graves May 24

Volunteers are needed Saturday, May 24 from 9 a.m. to noon to place more than 2,500 flags on veterans' graves at Edgell Memorial Cemetery in Framingham.

With a forecast of heavy rain, the Framingham Veterans office has decided to postpone the flag distribution planned for this Saturday, May 17 to Saturday, May 24 May from 9 a.m. to to noon. (The rain date was to have been Sunday but it will be Saturday.)

The flag distribution event will be held rain or shine, as Memorial Day is Monday, May 26.

Annually, the Framingham Veterans Services marks the graves of American Veterans with an American Flag. 

This year, 4,500 flags will be placed in Framingham’s cemeteries by volunteers.

On Saturday, May 24  volunteers (including Boy and Girl Scouts) are needed to help place 2,500 flags in Edgell Grove Cemetery. Edgell Grove is a Historical Landmark. 

"As a result of the design, we need a lot of youth with enthusiasm to tackle this large cemetery," said Framingham Veterans Agent Peter Harvell.
