Discuss Jordan Marsh, the MassPike and the Suburbs at Edgell Memorial Library

Temple Beth Am will hold its monthly breakfast today at 9.

Many weekends there are more things to do in Framingham than hours in the day, so below are my editor's picks for things to Sunday, Nov. 17.

Feel free to add events you think are worthy in the comment box below or post a event in the Framingham Patch calendar.

SUNDAY:

  • Temple Breakfast: Temple Beth Am will hold its monthly breakfast today at 9. It featured a 40-foot buffet, prepared by the Brotherhood. Admission is $12, and breakfast is open to the public. Guest speaker is Brian McCarren, Managing Director of Ameriprise Financial Services in Boston. He will educate attendees on the best ways to finance a child's college education, identity theft and how to prevent this from happening to you, tips on maximizing social security, how to outlive your money and leave a legacy to loved ones, and 10 legal documents that every family should have.
  • Highway, Shopping & the Suburban Shift: Will take place at Edgell Memorial Library at 2 p.m. Listen to Amy Finstein, architectural and urban historian at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, for a look at how concerns over metro-Boston's traffic congestion and economic vitality ultimately encouraged the exponential growth of western suburbs including framingham in the 1950s and 60s. Discussion will focus on Boston's favorite retailers including Filene's and Jordan Marsh, local roads including the MassPike, and construction of the idyllic suburban neighborhoods that so many of us now call home.
  • Democratic Town Election: The Framingham Democratic Town Committee will elect three new members tonight. Click here for additional information. Congressional candidate Katherine Clark and Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan will also speak.
