Editor's Picks: 5 Things To Do Sunday, Feb. 23

Beatles Tribute band performance at the British Beer Company and Framingham Town Historian Fred Wallace discusses his newest book Sunday afternoon.

Below are my editor's picks for things to do today, Sunday, Feb. 23

  • Beatles Tribute: Studio Two will take the stage at the British Beer Company this afternoon at 1 p.m. Listen to the Beatles Tribute band perform hits from the '60s.
  • Book Launch & Discussion: Town Historian and Framingham History Center volunteer Fred Wallace will present a sequel to his first work on General George H. Gordon that uncovers a critical piece of the General’s Civil War story. Antietam was the one battle that Gordon did not write about and Wallace felt compelled to learn more about his role in the bloodiest day of the war.  After visiting the Antietam National Battlefield, exhausting the National Archives and local sources, Wallace brings the answers to what happened that day in the cornfield. How did a “magnificent charge” influence the monumental Union victory in the dark days of 1862? Join The Framingham History Center for the launch of this book at Edgell Memorial Library today at 2 p.m.
Suggested donation $5 and the book will be selling for $15. Wallace will autograph books after the talk.
  • Wicked 2014: Spend the afternoon at the Fountain Street Fine Art gallery and its latest show - Wicked 2014, a juried show. The gallery is open today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  •  Cat Show:  Salty Cats, the local club of the International Cat Association, is hosting a show at the National Guard Armory today  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A great opportunity to meet breeds of cats that you have only seen in photos. There will be cats for adoption from local shelters and many vendors selling products and accessories for your feline friends. Tickets are available at the door; $6 for adults, $4 for students and senior. Children under 12 and active military members are free. The Armory is located at 522 Concord St. in Framingham.
  • Final Day of Vacation: Today is the last day of the February vacation. Enjoy the day with the family.
