Editor's Picks: 5 Things To Do Friday Night in Framingham

Beauty & the Beast stages at high school, carnival in Saxonville and Porridge performance all tonight, May 9 in Framingham.

Below are my editor's picks for things to do today, Friday, May 9

  • Tale as Old As Time: Framingham High School Drama Company will stage Disney's Beauty & The Beast tonight. This is the second of four shows this weekend. The curtain rises at 7 in the high school's auditorium. There were less than 50 seats available for tonight's show as of midnight. Tickets may be ordered online at http://www.showtix4u.com If tonight does not work, there are shows Saturday night and Sunday evening.
  • Fried Dough & Rides: The carnival is in town tonight and this Mother's Day weekend. The Carnival opened last night at the Pinefield Plaza in Saxonville. Sponsored by the Framingham Rotary, carnival proceeds will be used to benefit local community services. The carnival will be open tonight from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 10 p.m. and Mother's Day from 1 to 8 p.m. The midway is supplied by Cushing Amusements.
  • Elementary School PlayPotter Road Elementary School students will stage Porridge tonight at 7 at Cameron Middle School. Tickets are $6.
There is a second show Saturday night, May 10.
  • Folk, Blues Music: Amazing Things Arts Center in downtown Framingham will host folk and blues musician Brooks Williams tonight at 8.  Williams is a stunning guitarist whose blues-soaked, rhythmic and soulful music defies categorization. After 15 solo recordings and nearly two decades of touring the world, he is one of the most well-respected players on the circuit. Tickets are still available at the door at $20, $19 for seniors and students, $17 for members and $10 for children age 12 and under.
