EDITOR'S PICKS: 5 Things To Do Today in Framingham June 22
Paddle the Sudbury River, Brazilian soccer at Bowditch, swimming at the town's beaches, summer reading and an Latin American art exhibit all featured today.
Below are my editor's picks for things to do today, June 22:
- Paddle the Sudbury River: 13th Annual Riverfest celebration is an opportunity to enjoy a full weekend of activities free of charge and celebrate the Sudbury, Assabet and Concord Wild and Scenic Rivers. Today, join Bill Fadden and the AMC Boston Paddlers to paddle the upper Wild and Scenic Sudbury River today in Framingham at 2 p.m.. Launch at Little Farms Road in Framingham and, depending on water level and strainers, paddle up and down the river to the Saxonville Dam, Stone's Bridge, the Oxbow, etc., returning to the put-in. - Summer Reading: The Framingham Library is now closed on Sundays for the summer. Hope you stocked up on summer reading yesterday during the Friends of Framingham Library's book sale. If not, the libary and its branch re-open on Monday at 9 a.m.
- Latin American Art Show: The Fountain Street Fine Art gallery latest exhibit is a travelling one called We Are You, featuring three dozen Latin American artists. The exhibit is open to the public today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Brazilian Soccer Match: Bowditch Field is hosting an international soccer match between Cruzeiro and Miami-Dade today at 3 p.m.
- Go Swimming: The town's trio of public beaches will be open today.
Saxonville Beach on Lake Road, Learned's Pond on Lower Shawmut Terrace, and Lake Waushakum on Nipmuc Road will from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with lifeguards on duty. Beach passes are required or you can purchase a day pass at the beach.
