Grand opening of Samba West Nightlife, RIDE show at Amazing Things, free antiques appraisal, Mad Science color labs and Brazil plays its final World Cup soccer match all featured in my picks today.

Below are my editor's picks for things to do today, Saturday, July 12

  • Samba West Nightlife: ​ ​Tonight is the grand opening of Samba West's nightlife. There will be music by DJ Evan Halls and Doug Sander and band. $5 cover charge. The event is 21-plus and starts at 9.
  • World Cup Soccer: Host Brazil will battle Netherlands in the 2014 FIFA World Cup consolation match today at 4 p.m.
  • Free Antiques Appraisal & Model A Car Show: Heritage at Framingham is hosting a free antiques appraisal and Model A car show today. Appraisal at 1:30 p.m. Car show at 1 p.m.   Dust off your treasures and have them professionally appraised for free ​ by Peter Yvanovich, SPA of New England Inventory.
  • ​Western Experience: ​Amazing Things Arts Center will host ​RIDE, ​a​ multi-media concert featuring the music  ​Marc Berger and the the western images of Michael Riccardi tonight at 8. Tickets are $22, $21 students and seniors, $19 members and $11 for children under age 12.
  • Mad Science Color Lab: The main Framingham Library is hosting two sessions (10 and 11 a.m.) of the Mad Science Color Lab today. Using hands on experiments and exciting demonstrations, children ages 3-5 will be introduced to the FUNdamentals of color. They will start with primary colors, combine them to make secondary colors, then mix up a whole rainbow! They will also make a colorful sun-catcher to take home. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!
