Editor's Picks: Girl Scout Cookies, Book Sale & Blue Christmas Service

Shop for last-minute Christmas gifts at the Framingham Downtown Renaissance organization's holiday bazaar today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 42 Union Ave.

Below are my editor's picks for things to do today, Saturday, Dec. 21.

SATURDAY: 

  • Book Sale: The Friends of the Framingham Library will hold its final book sale of the year today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the public. Friends members may enter the sale early at 9:30 a.m. You may find the perfect travel book or a special children's book to give as a gift.
  • Cheer on the Frogs: The Framingham Parks & Recreation swim team will host Belmont today at 10 a.m. at Keefe Technical's pool. The Frogs are 1-1 on the season.
  • Girl Scout Cookies at Shoppers World: Framingham Girl Scouts from Troop 72107 will be outside Sports Authority in Shoppers World today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. selling Girl Scout Cookies. This will be your only time to get cookies before Christmas. Framingham Girl Scouts are going door-to-door taking orders for cookies that will be delivered the first week in February. If you need your Thin Mint or other Girl Scout Cookie fix before then Scouts will begin holding booth sales again on Saturday, Jan. 4 and throughout January.   • Holiday Bazaar: The Framingham Downtown Renaissance organization will hold a holiday bazaar today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 42 Union Ave. Shop for unique last-minute Christmas gifts. Kids and friendly dogs welcome.
  • Flyers Hockey: Framingham High girls ice hockey team will host Milton tonight at 5 p.m. at Loring Arena. 
  • Blue Christmas: First United Methodist Church on Water Street will hold a Blue Christmas Service at 5 p.m. This is a service of remembrance and hope for all who are mourning the loss of a job, loved one or relationship, or having trouble experiencing the joy of Christmas time.
  • Nutcracker Night: Aspiring ballet dancers (ages 4-12) are invited to attend an Nutcracker dance event led by Gina and the experienced DanceFIT ballet staff in Natick at 4:30 p.m.. The 2-hour event begins with a reading of  the Story of the Nutcracker, followed by learning choreography from the Nutcracker. We continue with painting mini Nutcrackers and enjoying pizza with ballet friends and a yoga class. This is a drop off event,parents can enjoy dinner in the city or last minute holiday shopping. To register or to learn more about this event, please click here. Cost is $30 per child.
