Editor's Picks: Go Under the Sea with Hemenway Elementary or Perform at Panache Coffee

Tonight is opening night for fifth graders at Hemenway Elementary School, who are staging three performances of Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. this weekend.

Many weekends there are more things to do in Framingham than hours in the day, so below are my editor's picks for things to do today, Friday, Nov. 22. Check back Saturday and Sunday for my picks for the rest of the weekend.


FRIDAY: 

  • Go Under the Sea: Hemenway Elementary School's fifth graders will stage three performances of Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. this weekend. Tonight is opening night with the curtain rising at 7. There are additional shows tomorrow at 2 and 7 p.m.Tickets in advance are $10 adults, $8 children and can be purchased by emailing THELITTLEMERMAIDHEMENWAY@gmail.com If available, tickets at the door will be more expensive - $10 students and $12 adults. Children 2 and under, if sitting on lap, are free. 
  • Centre Music House & Panache Coffee Team Up For Open Mic Night: Show starts at 6:30 p.m. at Panache Coffee. The free popular event will last two hours. Performers can just show up and sign up and can play up to two songs.
    Centre Music House is supplying all of the equipment: speaker system with three microphones, full-sized keyboard, guitar and bass amps, full drum kit and music stands. Max Larson from Centre Music House is hosting. Stop by and listen to some great music or show off your talent.
  • Enjoy the Blues:  Roy Book Binder, a Blues singing, guitar picking, song writing raconteur, will perfom at Amazing Things Arts Center at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20, $19 for students and seniors and $17 for members. Book Binder has been included in THE BIG BOOK OF BLUES, as well as The Blue's Who's Who.
  • Stay in Your Chair: The Callahan Senior Center will host chair yoga at 10 a.m. and chair volleyball at 12:45 p.m. There is a $3 cost for the yoga.
  • Listen to Music: Wyld Stallions will perform at Nobscot's Cafe at 9 p.m. No cover charge.
