The Sewer Department is responsible for collecting and transporting about 10 million gallons of sewerage daily. The Department oversees 17,000 residential and commercial accounts, works with the MWRA, and maintains more than 200 miles of mains, 51 pumping stations and more than 6,500 manholes.
