Woodrow Wilson Elementary School
508-626-9164
- Built in the 1940s, this elementary school was renovated and expanded in 2000 and named for President Woodrow Wilson.
- It is located on the south side of Framingham, near the Sherborn line.
- Principal Robin Welch, who has led the school since 1999, was named the Thomas C. Passios Outstanding Principal of the Year in 2005.
- In conjunction with Framingham State's Center for Global Studies, Wilson Elementary has a global studies program where "every child is a star."
- The program helps students develop an awareness and appreciation of diversity, which is vital in a school where for more than 75% of the students English is not their first language. The school has a Portuguese Bilingual/Sheltered English program.
About one out of every five students is in a special education program. Woodrow Wilson Elementary has a Parent Center, with many resources. The PTO typically holds meetings on the first Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm. The PTO and the school jointly hold a popular Farm Party in the spring and a Planet Book program.
