Framingham High School girls’ lacrosse will take on the winner of the Beverly vs. Lexington game in the first round of the MIAA Girls’ Lacrosse North Division 2 playoffs. Framingham has a bye in the preliminary round of the tournament, which starts Monday, May 27. Beverly and Lexington face each other that day. The girls, who finished 15-5, are ranked 2nd in the tournament, which features 20 teams. The Framingham game is scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, in Framingham.

Victims of the Boston Marathon bombings can file claims starting today through June 15, to possibly receive One Fund Boston assistance. Funds will start being distributed by June 30. One Fund Boston administrator Kenneth Feinberg released the final distribution protocol on Wednesday, which outlines how initial funds raised will be handed out, according to a City of Boston press statement. A fundraiser for English education brought hundreds to the dance floor at the Sheraton in Framingham.
Hundreds mambo danced at the Sheraton Hotel in Framingham on Thursday to raise funds for a group that aims to teach English to residents of MetroWest. The ESL fund has hosted the Latin Ball for 11 years as its primary fundraiser. Christine Tibor, director of Framingham Adult ESL, said she hopes the event will raise as much as $50,000. The ESL fund helps provide education in English to nearly 700 students per year. More than 400 are on the waiting list, Tibor said. During the event, instructors presented mambo classes to the 300 attendees as a part of the night's Latin theme. The Boy Scouts of America’s National Council voted Thursday to allow openly gay boys as accepted Scouts, according to WCVB TV. Under the Scouts’ Governing Board draft proposal, gay adults would remain prohibited from serving as Scout leaders, according to WCVB. More than 60 percent of voters at the annual Scout meeting in Texas supported the proposal.
Google partnered with the MBTA to deliver free wireless internet to the Boston area’s largest train station.
The MBTA is starting to get wired. South Station will have free wireless internet beginning today, according to a joint press release from Google, Redevelopment Ventures Corp. and the MBTA. Google invested in the endeavor and Redevlopment Ventures Corp. is responsible for WiFi development, the press release says. “Anything that improves our customers’ transit experience is a good thing,” MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott said in the statement. “By coupling this new initiative with the WiFi service provided on Commuter Rail trains, the MBTA is keeping its customers connected from the moment they enter South Station to the time they exit trains.” The Framingham/Worcester commuter rail line stops at South Station.
