The 1993 graduate of Framingham High died while climbing down Snow Creek Wall said the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.
Amy R. Stein of British Columbia, a 1993 graduate of Framingham High School, died Tuesday, May 14 in a tragic climbing fall. Stein, 37, was walking down from the Snow Creek Wall with other members of a climbing party when she jumped out of the path of falling rock and fell to her death, report the Seattle PI. Stein and four other rock climbers had descended the Orbit route on the Snow Creek Wall Tuesday afternoon, and were hiking down from the base when a large rock broke free above Stein, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office said. She was in a narrow ravine, and moved to avoid the rock, stepping off the ledge and accidentally falling 70 to 100 feet, said the Sheriff's office. A memorial celebration of Robert Jachowicz's life will be held Thursday, May 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Eagles on Park Street in Framingham.
Robert Joseph Jachowicz, age 84, died peacefully Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home in Framingham. He was the husband of 63 years to Phyllis M. (Rosicky) Jachowicz, also from Lynn. He was the son of the late Joseph and Emily (Lovely) Jachowicz. He was a graduate and standout football player at Lynn English High School and won a four-year full scholarship to the College of the Holy Cross, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. Jachowicz had an extensive, fulfilling career in Framingham as an educator, coach and artist. Following college he began teaching and coaching in the Framingham School System as an 8th grade teacher at the Framingham Middle School, now the Danforth Art Museum. The Chinese national was studying statistics at Boston University. She was killed in Monday's bombing at the Boston Marathon.
A Chinese newspaper has identified the third Boston Marathon bombing victim as Lu Lingzu, a Boston University graduate student, according to the Associated Press. Lu, from Shenyang, China, was studying statistics. A second Chinese national and BU student, Zhou Danling, was also injured in the blasts. She is listed in stable condition in a Boston hospital, according to Chinese officials. Lu's death has led to an outpouring from friends, family and concerned neighbors in China. John "Duffy" Doherty, a member of the Massachusetts High School Football Hall of Fame and father of Framingham High Athletic Director Gary Doherty died Tuesday.
Former Norwood High football coach John "Duffy" Doherty died April 9, 2013. Doherty coached the Mustangs to Division 1 Super Bowl championships in 1977 and 1980. He is a member of the Massachusetts State High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame and the Curry College Hall of Fame. His son Gary Doherty is Athletic Director and football coach at Framingham High School. (White) Hurley of Framingham and the late Kevin J. Hurley who died in 2012. She was a graduate of Framingham High School class of 1993 and Wheelock College in Boston. She worked as a logistics manager at the TJX Corporation in Framingham, and formerly worked for Firestone and Walgreens Corporation. Dorothy Rachel Mary (Smith) Paterson, 100, passed away peacefully at home with family at her side last month. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 20 at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 426 W. 6th St., Medford, Oregon. Born, August 15, 1912 to John William and Ethel (Wiper) Smith. A few years later they were blessed with another daughter, Merle Western. Dorothy (Dolly) graduated from Victoria College in British Columbia, Canada in 1934 with a bachelor's degree in biology. Patrick J. Fischetti a 15-year-old boy from Shrewsbury and eighth grade student at the Learning Center for the Deaf in Framingham, died after being stricken ill at home on Tuesday, March 26. Framingham resident Bobby Brown, who was active in Framingham hockey for 50 years, died Tuesday morning.
Coach Bob Brown, 77, passed away this morning with his family by his side. "Brownie was not only a coach, but a loving, caring, and passionate friend of Framingham Youth Hockey Program for the last 50 years. FYHP, Loring Arena, and the Town of Framingham will not be the same without him," posted Joel Idelson on the Framingham Youth Hockey website. Recently, Framingham honored Coach Brown. For over a half century, Brown was a fixture for Framingham hockey. He was a volunteer coach for all levels of Framingham Youth hockey, Framingham South High School, and Framingham High School.
