The town-wide “one book, one community” Framingham Reads Together book for 2013 is
Nathaniel Philbrick’s In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex.
Barbieri Elementary School hosted the musical group Manguito on Thursday, thanks to the PTO.
To celebrate the one year anniversary of the Teens and Tweens Homework Center at the main Framingham Library, students participated in an after-hours literary scavenger hunt.
K-12 Students could earn $1,000 with a poster or video creation.
“This musical takes the oldest story ever told and gives it a new life, and this wonderful cast is going to bring that energy to audiences, said director Chris Brindley, a Framingham native.
Half of the proceeds will benefit the arts department of the Framingham Public Schools.
The Framingham resident and Barbieri Elementary School parent, with his orchestra, performed at Carnegie Hall Sunday, as part of the famed-venue's family concert series.
The Framingham-based Metrowest Youth Symphony will merge with the Milford-based Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra.

The rehearsal studio at the Performing Arts Center of MetroWest was renamed The Lynne Johnson Grynkewicz Rehearsal Studio.
