A lifelong Massachusetts resident and Boston University graduate student, Christopher was born in Framingham and lived most of his life in Southborough. An avid outdoorsman, Christopher obtained the rank of Eagle Scout at age 14 and remained an active member of Boy Scout Troop 1 till his 18th birthday. Christopher Weigl, who had been pursuing a master's degree at Boston University, was killed in a bike accident on Thursday morning on Commonwealth Avenue.
The cyclist who was fatally injured in a collision with a tractor-trailer truck on Commonwealth Avenue on Thursday morning has been identified. Christopher Weigl, 23, was struck by a 16-wheeler truck around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, in the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and St. Paul Street near the Agganis Arena. The truck had been making a right-hand turn onto St. Paul Street as Weigl traveled east on Comm. Ave. He was reportedly heading to class when the incident occurred. The accident is still being investigated by the Boston Police Department. Thursday morning at rush police officers in Allston responded to a report of a bicyclist who had been involved in a crash with a tractor-trailer. According to the Boston Globe, Christopher Weigl of Southborough was riding his bike on Commonwealth Avenue in the bike lane when the truck made a wide turn and the two collided causing a large commotion. Weigl, who was born in Framingham, was an Eagle Scout who spent time volunteering at Baypath Humane Society with his brother, Dustin.
