Funeral Mass for Coach Brown Monday

Relatives and friends can pay respect Saturday, March 30 at McCarthy and Sons Funeral Home from noon to 6 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 1 at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church for Robert L "Brownie Brown. Family and friends are invited to the Mass. Known as Coach Brown to many, he died Tuesday, at the age of 77, surrounded by family at MetroWest Medical Center, after a short battle with cancer. Calling hours will be at Eugene J. McCarthy and Sons Funeral Home, tomorrow, March 30, from noon to 6 p.m. He was raised in Natick, and had been a resident of Framingham for 52 years. Brown served in the Navy during the Korean War. While he was in the Navy, he was a notable baseball player. He was a 35 year employee of Boston Edison. Coach Bobby Brown Has Died

Framingham resident Bobby Brown, who was active in Framingham hockey for 50 years, died Tuesday morning.

Coach Bob Brown, 77, passed away this morning with his family by his side. "Brownie was not only a coach, but a loving, caring, and passionate friend of Framingham Youth Hockey Program for the last 50 years. FYHP, Loring Arena, and the Town of Framingham will not be the same without him," posted Joel Idelson on the Framingham Youth Hockey website. Recently, Framingham honored Coach Brown. For over a half century, Brown was a fixture for Framingham hockey. He was a volunteer coach for all levels of Framingham Youth hockey, Framingham South High School, and Framingham High School.  Brown served as a varsity assistant, a junior varsity head coach, and one night last February against Medford was the varsity head coach.  During his time in …

Framingham Hockey honors Bobby Brown for his 50-year involvement. He has been a volunteer coach for all levels of Framingham Youth hockey, Framingham South High School and Framingham High School. He has served as a varsity assistant, a junior varsity head coach, and one night last February against Medford was the varsity head coach. He was honored at the start of the Flyers vs Braintree hockey game Saturday night. During Brown's 50+ years in Framingham hockey, he has been an influence on many high school players including Stanley Cup Champions like Peter Taglienetti, but one of his biggest thrill in coaching was these last few years getting to teach his own grandsons how to skate and watching them come up through youth hockey.
