Anyone home alone, in need of a meal or unable to cook or be with loved ones today are invited to the 24th Annual Curtis Family Thanksgiving at Eagles Hall between noon and 6 p.m. In 1989, Mark and Karen Curtis were celebrating Thanksgiving with friends at the Dugout in Framingham and decided to invite some tenants of the boarding house upstairs to join them. Two year later, the Curtis' decided to put up signs inviting people to join them for a free hot Thanksgiving meal. Last year, more than 1,700 received a free Thanksgiving meal. Today, organizers expect to serve more than 2,000 hot Thanksgiving meals. Wednesday night, volunteers chopped, cut, peeled and prepped for the dinner. To support the 24th Annual Curtis Family Thanksgiving dinner a benefit dance will be held Saturday.
Thanksgiving week, volunteers of all ages will once again peel, chop, and help to prepare almost 2,000 meals to support the Annual Curtis Family Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 22. As they have in the past, Mark and Karen Curtis, are ready to serve a hot meal to anyone that comes through the door on Thanksgiving. For those unable to attend the dinner, they plan to deliver more than 500 meals to the elderly and others that may be less fortunate. To help defray the cost of the annual Thanksgiving event, on Nov. 10, there will be a dance at the Eagles Hall in Framingham. Appetizers will be served and live music will be provided by Off the Hook band. Tickets $25 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Organizers hope to sell 300 …

20th Annual Salute to Framingham scheduled for Thursday, March 22.
In 1992, the Salute to Framingham was created to honor individuals for their outstanding commitment and service to Framingham’s youth. These honorees join a select group of people who have made a real difference in the lives of the children of Framingham. On Thursday, March 22, the 20th Annual Salute to Framingham will honor Mark and Karen Curtis and Dave Gudejko. Since 1989, Mark and Karen Curtis have been sponsoring a free Thanksgiving Day dinner for those in need. With the help of volunteers, Mark and Karen Curtis have prepared and served traditional Thanksgiving meals to thousands of needy families for more than two decades. Community members and many youth groups, including Framingham Girl Scouts, Framingham High athletes, Fuller Middle School students and Framingham Youth Hockey, all donated their time Wednesday night to help make the 23rd Annual Curtis Family Community Thanksgiving Dinner a success. Mark and Karen Curtis served 1,650 people on Thanksgiving last year; and with the economy still struggling the couple are expecting up to 2,000 meals to be served today. Anyone hungry, lonely or struggling this Thanksgiving is invited to stop by Framingham's Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall on Park Street between noon and 6 p.m. Organizers will also deliver more than 400 meals to those who can't leave their homes this holiday.
