Town Meeting on Wednesday night approved funds for a children's grove at Cushing Memorial Park, a study to renovate the Athenaeum in Saxonville and money to study Fuller-Farley schools.

Framingham children met Babs the Bunny, created bunny crafts, played Easter games and looked for eggs during the 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by Framingham Parks & Recreation Saturday.
Framingham children met Babs the Bunny, created bunny crafts, played Easter games and looked for eggs during the 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by Framingham Parks & Recreation Saturday morning at Cushing Memorial Park. Framingham Parks & Recreation staff and volunteer hid more than 1,250 eggs and 8 special, Golden eggs very early Saturday morning. As families arrived to the third annual event, they collected a necklace which indicated which color eggs their child should find. Each child was to find six eggs and try to get one of the special Golden eggs. More than 175 families registered for the event. The lucky few who found the Golden eggs received a teddy bear. All who found six eggs of their color, received a special goodie bags…

Framingham Parks & Recreation will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Cushing Memorial Park on Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. in the rain, shine or even snow. Framingham children between the ages of 3-12 can participate. Registration fee is $5 and payable at the Parks & Recreation office on Union Avenue. Deadline to register is Tuesday, March 26 at 4:30 p.m. No payments the day of the event. Families can arrive at 9:30 a.m. to meet Babs the bunny and have a photo taken with her, do arts & crafts and play games. Children are divided into two groups during the hunt and assigned a specific color eggs to find during the hunt. For more information, see the attached flyer.

The Town of Framingham will host a remembrance ceremony for the 11th anniversary of those who lost their lives in the tragic events of September 11, 2001, including the 17 people with ties to Framingham. The 6th Annual Framingham Police Chase for a Cure was held this weekend to benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
This was one chase where no one was arrested. On Saturday, the 6th Annual Framingham Police Chase for a Cure was held to benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. PanCAN is a nationwide nonprofit organization for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. They also do research on pancreatic cancer. Proceeds also benefit the Framingham Police Association. About 200 runners and walkers took part in the 5K, which began and ended at Cushing Memorial Park. Andy Gardiner of Dover was the overall winner with a time of 16:01 minutes. Dale Fingar of Medway was the top female finisher with a time of 21:54. In the under 10 age group, the trophies were awarded to Camden Carr, 7, of Boston and Eve Slattery, 10, of Holliston. This past weekend, Framingham Parks & Recreation unveiled historic markers to celebrate the history of Cushing Memorial Park and to celebrate the jewel the area has become to the neighborhood.
This past weekend, Framingham Parks & Recreation unveiled historic markers to celebrate the history of Cushing Memorial Park and to celebrate the jewel the area has become to the neighborhood. The area where the park stands today, was in the 1940s Cushing General Hospital, a military hospital with more than 1,800 beds. The hospital was named after Dr. Harvey Cushing, a neurosurgeon. After as a Veterans Hospital for a couple of wars, the state took over the hospital and the its capacity was cut by two-thirds. Just before Governor William Weld called for its closure in the 90s, it was a geriatric facility with an Alzheimer's center.
