Last weekend, FHS student government members collected old VCRs, computer monitors and other technology to be disposed of properly and to not be left in landfills.
Saturday, Framingham High student government members spent four hours collecting what many would call junk. Under adviser Robin Kanter, a special education teacher, at Framingham High School the students ran a free technology/electronics recycling drive. This is the second year for the drive. Last year, they collected enough old VCRs, computer monitors, televisions, DVD players etc to fill an 18-wheel truck. Kanter said the company that collects the recycled technology reached out to the students after a very successful first drive last year in Massachusetts - the company's first event in the northeast. The company takes all the "technology that some people throw into landfills and they break it own properly so not to hurt the environment…
