VIDEO: Elementary Music Concert

Last week, fourth and fifth grade students, who participated in the district's new fee-based instrumental music program, performed in concerts at Barbieri and Dunning elementary schools. Tonight, Hemenway Elementary will hold its concert.

Last year, the Framingham School District eliminated its elementary school music program and bands. The Performing Arts Center of MetroWest (PAC)stepped in to provide fee-based musical instruction after-school for fourth and fifth grade students.  Last week, students from Dunning, Wilson, Brophy, Potter Road and Barbieri elementary schools held two concerts to showcase the talents of fourth and fifth graders, in the new fee-based instrumental music program. Students from Hemenway Elementary will perform in a concert tonight at 7. Elementary Music Concert Tonight at Barbieri

The first group of fourth and fifth grade students in the new fee-based elementary music program will perform tonight at Barbieri Elementary. Below is a schedule of all the concerts.

The first group of fourth and fifth grade students in the new fee-based elementary music program will perform tonight, May 31 at Barbieri Elementary. Performing in the  7 p.m. concert will be students from Barbieri Elementary, Brophy Elementary, Wilson Elementary and Potter Road Elementary. Last year, the Framingham School District eliminated its elementary school music program and bands. The Performing Arts Center of MetroWest (PAC)stepped in to provide fee-based musical instruction after-school for fourth and fifth grade students.  The concerts are for parents and friends to see and hear the progress their children have made playing instruments.  The concerts are a very important part of the lessons program, said Sherry Anderson the …

We Got To Let the Music Play ... Listen to the Music

Elementary music lessons return to the Framingham Public Schools this week thanks to the efforts of the Performing Arts Center of MetroWest and Centre House Music.

The elementary schools will be alive with the sound of music today, as the new after-school music lessons program, coordinated by the Performing Arts Center of MetroWest, begins this week. The Framingham-based organization, with the help of Centre Music House, worked with the Framingham Public Schools to organize and offer a fee-based elementary school music program, after the School Administration and School Committee decided in the spring of 2010 to eliminate the elementary school music program for all fourth and fifth grade students. More than 220 families signed their child up for the new after-school music program.
