Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts' newest and now senior senator, toured Genzyme in Framingham on Friday and met with the company's CEO, David Meeker. After the tour, Warren commented on the importance of investing in Massachusetts' infrastructure to ensure companies like Genzyme are able to succeed. Genzyme opened a new $330 million facility in 2012 in Framingham. "This [company] is here in Framingham because of all the investments we in Massachusetts make," Warren said. "The U.S. Senate has become gridlocked," said Warren. She told an audience of more than 100 supporters and Framingham voters there is no jobs act, no dream act and now equal pay for equal work because of the filibuster rule. Syncopated sang Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas to the senator-elect Saturday at Nevins Hall.
Senator-Elect Elizabeth Warren stopped by Framingham Saturday as part of her "Starting With People" tour to thank and greet supporters. At the end of the event, the Framingham High School boys A Cappella group Syncopated serenaded her. Singing yesterday were Michael Berkson, Matt Scranton, Keith Stockless, Scott Jacobs, Zach Finn, Jamey Miller and Zach Colten. (A few members of the group were missing Saturday.) Afterwards, Warren thanked the group and posed for a photo.

As part of her Starting With People Tour, Senator-Elect Elizabeth Warren will make a stop in Framingham Saturday, Dec. 8. Warren be thanking people, who supported her election, and reaching out to families and small business owners, opening the door for everyone willing to work together to level the playing field. She will be at Nevins Hall in the Memorial Building from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Warren defeated incumbent Sen. Scott Brown to become the first woman senator from Massachusetts. The night before her election in November, she held a rally at Framingham High School that drew more than 1,000 supporters. The day she announced her candidacy for senate, she made a visit to Framingham.

U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, a Republican, was defeated Tuesday by first time candidate Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat. Warren will take office as the state's junior senator in January. She'll replace Brown, who was elected in a special election in January 2010 when he defeated Democrat Martha Coakley. In his concession speech on Tuesday night, Brown told supporters that "defeat is only temporary." As soon as the race was called, analysts began suggesting Brown may run for Massachusetts governor in 2014 or would seek the state's other U.S. Senate seat if Sen.
