Comparison Lets Voters See Brown, Warren’s Stances Side by Side

Check out the side-by-side comparison on how the two candidates stack up on the issues.

The final debate between Senator Scott Brown and challenger Elizabeth Warren was cancelled because of the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Some voters viewed the final debate as the last chance to hear from both candidates before making up their minds on who to support. For those voters or for people who want to make sure they are voting for the right person, check out diffen.com for a side by side comparison. The website compares the candidates’ stances on many issues, including healthcare, immigration, gay rights, gun control and national security.  The election is Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Has Warren protested or supported their 2 brother Boston Firefitghers that were fired for claiming Native American status on their job applications a few years back? I have yet to hear anything from her about bringing them back to service or supporting them in any way. Their claims reflected that of her own exactly. They lost their jobs when the Mayor of Boston demanded it. He supports Warren too…   more ›

POLL: Will Warren or Brown Win?

Who do you think has the momentum coming into the final days of the election?

Democrat Elizabeth Warren is up by five points over incumbent Republican Scott Brown in the latest WBUR/MassINC poll of the Massachusetts senate race. That's a near-total reversal of the WBUR poll last month, which had Brown up by four on Oct. 9. In fact, Warren has been trending upward in most recent polling. The New York Times' FiveThirtyEight blog has Warren up by four in an average of recent polls. The blog, which uses advanced statistical modeling akin to baseball sabermetrics (think Moneyball) gives Warren an 89 percent chance of winning the election. But Brown's got some significant energy on his side as well. He's been barnstorming the state with political luminaries like Sen. John McCain and today won the Boston herald's …

VIDEO: Franken to Mass Dems: Ignore Your Families and Pound Pavement for Warren

The SNL alum turned U.S. Senator riled up a highly partisan crowd Friday in Lexington, where he & Congressman Ed Markey hit on economic and environmental concerns in support of Elizabeth Warren.

Politics are no laughing matter, but with little more than two weeks remaining before the Nov. 6 elections, Massachusetts Democrats looked for a shot in the arm from the so-called “clown” of the Democratic Party, Al Franken, the former Saturday Night Live cast member turned US Senator from Minnesota. Franken was in Massachusetts Oct. 19 to support Elizabeth Warren, the U.S. Senate candidate looking to unseat the Scott Brown, the Republican incumbent, in a tight race many politicos expect will have ramifications far beyond the Commonwealth’s borders. And the stumping stopped here in Lexington Friday afternoon, as Franken and U.S. Rep Ed Markey joined a few more familiar faces to address an overflowing Depot building. There were jokes …

Warren Out-Fundraises Brown in Third Quarter by Several Million

Warren out raised Brown by $4.5 million in the third quarter, according to fundraising totals released on Monday by each campaign.

U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren's campaign announced today it has raised more than $12.1 million in the third quarter this year, outraising incumbent Senator Scott Brown by $4.5 million. Brown's campaign had its best fundraising total to date this quarter, at $7.45 million. The Brown campaign enters the home stretch with approximately $10.2 million cash on hand.  About 80 percent of Warren's contributors were donation amounts of $50 or less, and $7 million was raised in September alone, the campaign said. “Tens of thousands of people across Massachusetts have joined this campaign because they know that Elizabeth will fight for them in the U.S. Senate,” said Michael Pratt, Finance Director. "This strong support will help propel the …

Who Won Debate—Warren or Brown?

The pair had its third meeting Wednesday night.

Sen. Scott Brown and challenger Elizabeth Warren met for their third debate on Wednesday night in Springfield, moderated by Jim Madigan.  Possibly Brown's biggest moment of the debate was when he cornered Warren over the issue of the rising costs of higher education. Warren, a professor at Harvard University, noted that Brown voted against a bill that sought to keep student loan interests low, because it would have closed a loophole for millionaires.  But Brown came back by saying the reason the costs of higher education are skyrocketing are because of administrative costs, like Warren's salary and benefits at Harvard.  "Professor Warren makes about $350,000 to teach one course," he said. "She got a zero interest loan from Harvard and gets…

Patty-as a victim also I could not agree more. He wasn't too traumatized to share this incident publicly in a book to be read by millions, but is too traumatized to make a private phone call to the DA"s office and share information about his abuser that might potentially protect and help others? It makes no sense to me and is a lapse to big to overlook.   more ›

TELL US: Who Won the Senate Debate?

Did Scott Brown or Elizabeth Warren take the win on the second debate?

Sen. Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren faced off in their second debate Monday night at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell. Warren cited her advocacy for the working class and attacked Brown for his votes against jobs bills, casting him as a politician for the wealthy and corporate interests. Brown touted his bipartisan record and attacked Warren on claims of Native American ancestry and legal work for corporations, painting her as an out-of-touch opportunist. The Boston Herald has the complete video of the debate. Both candidates got their share of applause from the audience, but we want to know what you think. Who would you say won? Did either candidate sway you in either direction? Were your questions answered? Tell us in …

Brown, Warren Wrangle Over Character, Partisanship

The two candidates faced off in Lowell for round two of their debates.

Republican Sen. Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren brought their sharpened claws to the second debate last night. Moderator David Gregory started the debate with a question about Warren's heritage. Warren claims to have Native American ancestry, but proof of that ancestry has not been presented.  "From the day I was born until my other died, she told me about who I am, who we are, who my brothers are," Warren said. "I have never used the information about our Native American heritage to get any benefit ... I consider myself as having a Native American background. That's what I said, and that's who I am." Brown has attacked Warren as dishonest for the heritage issue in his latest round of TV ads. Recently, Brown staffers…

I'm much more concerned about the Republican party platform than bi-partisanship. This is not my father's Republican party. It has been captured by a small group economic and religious extremists. A Republican majority in the Senate would open the door to putting far right bills on Barack Obama's or Mitt Romney desk for signature. (Mass. voters support Obama over Romney 2:1) Trickle down hasn't …   more ›
