Firefly's BBQ Restaurant has closed. Tuesday was its last day open. A message on its phone says "Sorry to announce the Firefly's in Framingham has closed." The phone message thanks customers for the "9 great years of patronage" and suggests customers visit the original Firefly's - and only Firefly's left open - in Marlborough. Firefly's has now closed all of its locations except for its original one. This is the second Framingham restaurant to close in the last month. Earlier, Green Chili, in Saxonville at the Pinefield Plaza, closed its doors. Owner and chef Anthony Gomes, who served an eclectic mix breakfast, South and North Indian cuisine and American food. Tickets now on sale; organizers the pre-ordered "taste tickets" will cut down on the very long lines customers saw last year.
Last year, everyone was raving about the food but complaining about the long lines at the first-ever food truck festival at Shoppers World. Armed with a new ticketing method to speed up the lines, the 2nd Annual Food Truck Festival takes place Saturday, Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year, attendees are invited to purchase "taste tickets" to be used like currency at the trucks, said organizers. Ten taste tickets cost $13 and 20 tickets for $25. The Marlboro Fireflys is way better than Framingham ever was. I know it's the same ownership and whatnot, but somehow it didn't translate when they opened that location. That said, it was still a passable BBQ place.   more ›
