Framingham Advertises for Assistant Town Manager

Position pays between $96,559 to $116,625 annually.

With David Williams headed to Sherborn to be its Town Administrator, the Town of Framingham Wednesday began advertising for a new Assistant Town Manager. Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin was hired in 2012 and started in June. The Assistant Town Manager position pays between $96,559 to $116,625 annually, according to the job posting on the town's website. The job posting lists the position's duties as:   Anyone applying should have B.S. degree in public administration or related field is required, with a Master’s degree preferred and 3-5 years of directly related experience, progressively responsible municipal management experience required.

Assistant Town Manager Offered Sherborn Town Administrator Post

Framingham Assistant Town Manger David Williams has been offered the Town Administrator position in Sherborn, by a unanimous vote by the Board of Selectmen.

David Williams was appointed Town Administrator of the Town of Sherborn, per unanimous vote of the Board of Selectmen, subject to negotiation of a mutually acceptable contract.   Williams has been assistant town manager, human resources director and chief procurement officer in Framingham since February 2010. At one time, he put himself in the running for the Framingham Town Manager position, but then withdrew his name. Bob Halpin was hired as Framingham Town Manager earlier this year. Williams has a Master of Public Administration, James Madison University and a BA, Public Management, University of Maine. Valerie Mulvey Agrees To Serve as Interim Town Manager

Framingham's Town Clerk Valerie Mulvey agreed Wednesday to serve as Interim Town Manager until Julian Suso's successor is named.

Framingham Town Clerk Valerie Mulvey will be wearing a different but familiar hat the next few months. Mulvey was asked by Selectmen Wednesday to take over the reins of the Town Manager position after current Town Manager Julian Suso leaves the post until a new town manager is hired. She would carry the title of Interim Town Manager. I received the call from Jason (Smith, Chair of the Board of Selectmen) at the end of the day and I verbally accepted,” said Mulvey. “I’m meeting with Jason on Friday to go over details.” Mulvey indicated she will be in close contact with Suso, as he winds down his time in Framingham. “I’ll be meeting with Julian the next few weeks and we expect to have a smooth transition.” Selectmen have indicated previously…

Insurance Switch Equals $500,000 Savings

The Town of Framingham will switch insurance carriers and save nearly $500,000.

The town is switching insurance carriers and in the process will save nearly half a million dollars in premiums for fiscal year 2012. The Selectmen backed a recommendation by Assistant Town Manager David Williams, who also fills the role of chief procurement officer, to purchase coverage with Trident, a national carrier. Trident will be the town’s insurance carrier starting Friday, July 1. Framingham has used the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Agency for the past eight years. MIAA indicated within the past week that the town’s insurance premiums would increase about 20 percent next year to $1,354.172.
