Due to issues with the ballots and some machines at a few precincts, hand counts were necessary and the counting continues Wednesday morning.
UPDATED: Framingham counting completed and results were available at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. *** In just the first hour of voting Tuesday, there was an issue with the machine collecting the ballots at Precinct 11 at Keefe Technical School. A second machine was brought in, but it too was having issues accepting the ballots. Machines at the King Administration building and Potter Road Elementary School also had issues, reported campaign workers and observers. With the issue, hand counting was required to make sure that every one's vote was counted. Keefe's machines were the last to arrive at the Memorial Building. State Rep. Tom Sannicandro won all six of the Framingham precincts in the 7th Middlesex District plus the community of Ashland to win re-election.
State Rep. Tom Sannicandro (D-Ashland) won all six of the Framingham precincts in the 7th Middlesex District and every precinct in Ashland to defeat his Republican challenger Jon Fetherston. Framingham Patch first reported the win Tuesday night before 9:30. Fetherston, the former chair of the Ashland Board of Selectmen, didn't even reach 100 votes in two of the six precincts in Framingham. Framingham results are unofficial, as the Framingham Town Clerk's office has some issues with some machines at the polling places, due to thickness and width of the ballots. There are three ballots in Framingham, depending on which precinct you reside in.
All three ballots are the same - except for the state representative seats. Each ballot has the candidates for presidents, U.S. Senate and Congressman, etc. Residents in Precincts 3 will receive the ballot with the 13th Middlesex District state representative seat. Rep. Thomas Conroy is unopposed. Residents in Precincts 8, 13, 14, 16, 17 and 18 will receive the ballot for the 7th Middlesex District state representative seat. Rep. This time the senator, in a tight re-election race with Democrat Elizabeth Warren, brought Maine Sen. Susan Collins, who was voted the #1 bipartisan senator in the United States. Brown has been named the second-most bipartisan senator by Congressional Quarterly.
