About 4 acres of wooden land burned in Framingham, near the Sherborn line.
Framingham firefighters responded to a report of a large brush fire around 2 p.m. Easter Sunday, behind the Adesa Auctions property along the railroad tracks. It took Framingham and Sherborn firefighters almost 3 hours to put out the fire, which burned 4 acres of wooded area. Framingham Fire headquarters is located down the street from Adesa.

The Tuesday afternoon crash closed the Mass Pike westbound for about an hour.
Massachusetts State Police are investigating a multiple car crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike westbound in Framingham Tuesday about 3 p.m., in which a tanker jackknifed. Preliminary reports from Trooper Thomas McCarthy indicate a 2011 Honda Pilot was travelling in the left travel lane when, for reasons yet to be determined, drifted over into the breakdown lane. The truck struck the guardrail, coming back across the roadway and striking the right side of a 2006 Western Star tanker trailer, according to State Police. The collision caused the tanker trailer to jackknife, blocking all three travel lanes, said a State Police release. The Framingham Public Schools, working with Framingham Police and Framingham Fire, will ask Town Meeting members to vote on $250,000 worth of possible security upgrades at the town's schools, said Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin. "This is a combined town and school effort," emphasized Halpin, who Tuesday summarized the warrant article to Framingham Selectmen. Framingham firefighters extinguished the blaze just before midnight.
Update Sat. Jan. 26: The cause of Friday's house fire on Pleasantview Terrace is still unknown. "There is extensive damage to the inside of the house," Deputy Paul Gildea of the Framingham Fire department said. The blaze started in the attic and was contained there by Framingham firefighters, Gildea said. The one-alarm fire could have been worse if not for a neighbor calling 9-1-1 when smoke was scene from he second floor, said Framingham Fire Deputy Chief Kevin Burns.
A space heater, left too close to bedding, started a mattress fire in a bedroom on the second floor at 11 Charles Place Monday, said Framingham Fire Deputy Chief Kevin Burns. The fire was reported by a neighbor, who witnessed smoke coming from the two-story residence, said Burns. The quick thinking of the neighbor to report the smoke, helped us extinguish the fire quickly, said Burns. The 9-1-1 call came in at 2:16 p.m. Whn Engine 3 arrived on the scene, smoke was coming from the second floor. Laura Nichols, 35, of Framingham, was killed late Saturday after her car crossed into oncoming traffic on Fountain Street.
A 35-year-old Framingham woman was killed late Saturday after the car she was driving crossed the center lane on Fountain Street, triggering a head-on collision. Laura Nichols was alone in her vehicle at the time of the crash, Framingham Police said. The collision was reported about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, near the intersection with Jodie Road. Two people in the other vehicle were taken to Metro West Medical Center at Framingham Union with non-life threatening injuries, said Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Burns. Middlesex County Sheriff's Youth Public Safety Campers from Framingham visited with the Framingham Police and Fire departments this week; a graduation ceremony will be held today in Billerica.
As the temperature rose on Wednesday, campers at the Middlesex County Sheriff's Youth Public Safety Camp didn't seem to care. The last stop of the day was a visit to the Framingham Fire headquarters. Earlier in the day, they visited the Framingham Police Station. This is the 13th year of the camp, and the second year under Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian. The camp is available for just one week for Framingham residents. This year there are 55 Framingham kids, who range in age from 9-11, enrolled. This is an increase from last year, when 30 kids attended. County-wide there are more than 1,700 children enrolled in the camp. Each week is dedicated to different communities. Framingham Fire Department was dealing with a brush fire early this morning near Potter Road.
Framingham Fire Department was battling a brush fire this morning around Potter Road just before 8 a.m. Scanner reports had the fire beginning at 7:46 p.m. and was about 1.5 acres. Framingham Fire has extinguished the fire in less than an hour, but Framingham and most of Massachusetts is still under a "red flag alert." Issued by the National Weather Service, a "red flag" alert means fires that develop will have the potential to spread rapidly and outdoor burning is not recommended. The elevated fire risk will stay in effect until about 6 p.m. today, as wind gusts are expected to be between 20-25 miles per hour and rain is not expected until later tonight.

A man, in his 50s, fell while "navigating the railroad tracks" and needed to be air lifted from Framingham to a trauma center, said Framingham Fire.
About 7:50 p.m. on Monday, a man, in his 50s, on a bicycle, failed to "navigate the railroad tracks" on Blandin Avenue and was knocked unconscious, said Framingham Fire. A motorist noticed him and called for help. Based on his facial injuries and that he was unconscious, it was determined to transport him via a Medflight helicopter to a trauma center, said the deputy fire chief.
