The janitor dropped the balls from the roof of the school, as the Framingham Fire Department was unavailable and out on a call. Report of a gas line struck at MCI Framingham just before 9:30 a.m. Monday.
UPDATED at 10:35 a.m. with response from NSTAR *** Framingham Fire and Police responded to MCI Framingham, the women's prison, just after 9:30 a.m. Monday for a report of a gas line struck. An ambulance was requested. NSTAR was sending a crew to the scene. It is unknown what caused the incident. "It was called in to us as a hit gas line," said NSTAR spokesperson Michael Durand. "It's unclear to us as of right now what was the nature of the work being done. The gas has been shut off and our crews will begin repairs shortly."

Massachusetts State Police and emergency vehicles responded to a report of a rolled over vehicle on Route 9 in Framingham. The crash happened at 1657 Worcester Rd just after midnight. Framingham Police and Framingham Fire were on the scene. Unknown if there are any injuries.

One of the victims of the fire last week was 35 weeks pregnant and sadly, the other family was no stranger to tragedy.
Last Wednesday, the Framingham Fire Department was battling a house fire at 12 Hallet Rd. in Saxonville, when they received notification of a second house fire at 5 Fairfield Rd. just blocks away. Sadly, both homes were destroyed. Since the May 1 fires, friends, neighbors and strangers have rallied to help both families. First, the American Red Cross provided money and housing. At the Fairfield Road home, one of the fire victims was 35 weeks pregnant, according to the organizations Healthy Families and Jewish Family Network. "While the family is all ok the mom lost everything she had for the baby," said a Facebook post, seeking help for the pregnant woman. The dry weather and expected winds on Thursday afternoon makes it's potentially dangerous to perform open burning.
The National Weather Service is warning of an increased risk of brush fires because of the extended dry weather conditions across New England. The Service said the dry weather has created “unsafe burning conditions” with dead grass, leaves and brush at greater risk to catch fire. In addition to the dry conditions, winds may reach 20 to 30 mph in the afternoon, which could cause brush fires to spread. The Service warned that most wildfires start as open burning by homeowners. The Service said those who want to perform open burning must get a permit and: Clear the area around a pile of all flammable material Never leave the fire unattended Have a hose and tools like a shovel or rake Burn only natural vegetative material Call 911 immediately …
The new firefighters will have local training for two weeks before going out on Framingham Fire Department calls.
The Town of Framingham has 10 new firefighters. They were sworn in Wednesday morning by Town Clerk Valerie Mulvey. Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin stopped by to welcome the new employees. Wednesday was their first day on the job. They were having a training session after the brief swearing in ceremony at the Memorial Building. They will start going on calls for the Framingham Fire Department in two weeks. Later, as scheduling permits, they will get additional training at the Massachusetts Fire Academy in Stow. Framingham Fire Department was battling a house fire at 12 Hallet Rd. in Saxonville, when they received notification of a second house fire at 5 Fairfield Rd. just blocks away. Both fires were reported just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The home on Hallet road is listed to the Bolanes family, which has seen tragedy before.
