Framingham High School's Drama Company is staging the dark musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street this weekend. Thursday night is opening night. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. There are shows Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 too. Tickets are $12 in advance online or $15 at the door. Purchase here. Framingham High School Drama Company did not win the state title this year, but 3 students were honored with individual acting and design awards.
Saturday, the Framingham High School Drama Company (FHSDC) learned it did not win the state's drama festival. FHSDC finished fourth. Framingham High was one of 14 schools to earn the right to compete in the finals of the state drama festival, last weekend. More than 100 high schools started the competition, sponsored by the Massachusetts Education Theatre Guild. Framingham High has qualified for the finals nine out of the last 10 years. This year, FHSDC performed Dark of the Moon in the finals. Framingham High seniors Mikey Russo and Olivia Wiles received excellence in acting awards at the state drama festival, for their performance in the play. Nine Framingham High students honored for excellence.
Framingham High School has qualified for the 2013 finals of the Massachusetts Drama Festival. The Framingham High School Drama Company performed Dark of the Moon this afternoon at 4 p.m., as part of the semifinals. Framingham High was one of 42 schools competing at seven sites across the state today. The finals will be held March 21-23. Framingham High students win individual acting and set design awards, too.
Congrats to Framingham and Marian high schools for qualifying for the semifinals in the Massachusetts State Drama Festival. Framingham High School Drama Company's performance of Dark of the Moon Saturday morning at Sharon High School earned them a spot in the semifinals. Marian High performed Dog Sees God at Attleboro High School Saturday to earn its spot in the semifinal round. Yesterday, March 2, 14 high schools hosted more than 100 drama companies in the preliminary round. Three schools from each of the 14 venues qualified for the semifinals. Public invited to watch a benefit performance of the drama festival entry tonight at 7 at Framingham High; tickets available online.
The Massachusetts Drama Festival begins tomorrow, March 2. Framingham High School Drama Company, a perennial finalist in the state competition, will hold a benefit performance of its 2013 entry tonight, March 1 at 7 at Framingham High. The students are performing Dark of the Moon, a play Howard Richardson and William Berney which had a brief run on Broadway in 1945. Set in the Appalachian Mountains, the play is a mythical tale of a witch boy, who becomes human after falling in love with a human girl named Barbara Allen. The play is based on a folk song - The Ballad of Barbara Allen. At the start of the 40-minute show, a Conjur Woman agrees to turn the witch boy named John human for a year so he can court and marry Barbara Allen, but if she…

Tonight is the final performance of Framingham High School Drama Company's production of Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Friday night was opening night and it was sold out. I went to the show last night and thought that if only Framingham residents that like to see Broadway musicals knew what they are missing! How can we can the word out to the people who do not have any connection to the schools that the talent exhibited at FHS is spectacular! They were fantastic last night!
