The final version of Framingham’s Master Plan outlined a number of steps the town will need to take in order to bring development to various parts of the community.
Framingham Planning Board’s presentation to the Board of Selectmen of the long-anticipated Master Plan essentially outlined what Framingham could look like if the elements of the plan are implemented. “The Planning Board doesn’t see this as an end but a beginning,” said Planning Board Chair Thomas F. Mahoney of the Master Plan presentation that was released at Wednesday night's Selectmen's meeting. Public comment was overwhelmingly positive when a draft proposal of the Master Land Use Plan was presented at Wednesday night's Planning Board meeting.
Public comments were nearly universally positive at a public forum on the Draft Land Use Master Plan Part II presented by the Framingham Planning Board. "The basic goal is to have as much public comment as possible," said Planning Board Chair Andrea Carr-Evans. Ken Buckland, Principal with the Cecil Group, presented with a slide show overview of the draft Master Land Use Plan. Buckland described a Master Plan as “a precursor to zoning. It's a way to have a dialogue and a discussion about zoning." “What we got from the survey is that the historic character of the community is very important to the 800 or so who responded," Buckland said. The Planning Board is hosting a public meeting for the Master Plan. The Cecil Group will present the Draft Land Use Master Plan Part II on July 27 7:30 p.m. in the Memorial Building.
Last week, the Framingham Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee discussed the town's new Master Plan. Residents will get a chance to give their thoughts on the plan Wednesday, July 27. The Master Plan was discussed Thursday night. Concerns about changing lot sizes and cluster zoning were raised. Planning Board is looking at a public hearing date at the end of July.
1. Town Planner Jay Grande discussed the Master Plan, proposing a series of public meetings about the plan. He would like to invite the Cecil Group to a meeting in July, where the consultant could answer questions from the public. He also said he hopes to discuss the recent Master Plan questionnaire and how it relates to the Master Plan. The vice president of the Agricultural Advisory Committee spoke to the Board, expressing concerns about the Master Plan, including changes to lot sizes and cluster zoning proposals. Grande said there have been similar concerns voiced in two letters the Board received.
