Police: Man Reported Near School Was Not a Registered Sex Offender

Framingham Police said the man reported by Hemenway PTO parents and mentioned in an alert by the school principal has been confirmed as not a registered sex offender.

Framingham Police said the man reported by parents and mentioned in an alert by a school principal has been confirmed as not a registered sex offender, said Framingham Police Lt. Ron Brandolini. The Framingham Police school resource officer McGrath and the Police Safety Division, through an investigation, have confirmed that the individual seen yesterday on the bench by the PTO member was mistakenly identified and is not the registered sex offender from Framingham’s register sex offender list, said Brandolini. Police have confirmed that the individual has no criminal history, said Brandolini. Steven Levy was arrested in Framingham over the weekend.

Framingham Police arrested former Marlborough City Councilor and State Rep. Steven Levy early Saturday morning. Steven Levy, 48, of 61 O'Grady Road in Marlborough was arrested Saturday morning at 5:15 a.m. on charges of domestic assault and battery at the Framingham Police Station, according to police. The incident occured in the parking lot of the Chicken Bone in Framingham, according to police. Levy came to the police station to be booked at the request of Framingham police, said Framingham Police Lt. Ronald Brandolini. Levy's wife Sharon stated on Tuesday that he was not speaking to the press about the incident. Levy lost his bid for re-election to Danielle Gregoire last year. UPDATED: Principal: Report of Registered Sex Offender Near School, Bus Stop

One of Framingham's elementary school principals sent out an alert to parents that there was a report of a registered sex offender near the school.

Updated: With information from Framingham Police *** Hemenway Elementary School Principal Lucia Laguarda sent out an alert to parents this afternoon that there was a report of an "individual that was suspected of being a registered sex offender waiting at the bench located between the Heritage House and Hemenway School." The principal told parents that the "location is a public bus stop and it is within the legal distance of the school, if in fact it is this individual." The K-5 elementary school principal told parents in her alert she has asked the Framingham Police safety officers to follow up with school administration on the report. Framingham Police Lt.
