LIVE BLOG: Teachers Demand To Be Heard; Want Fair Contract [VIDEO]

Framingham Patch is live blogging at the Framingham School Committee meeting. Members of the Framingham Teachers Association spoke for almost 90 minutes at the start of the meeting - including some very loud chants highlighted in the attached video.

Framingham Patch is live blogging at the School Committee meeting. It is a packed house as the Framingham Teachers Association had asked its members to attend. The Association also encouraged parents to attend and support the teachers. Editor's Note: Wi-fi is spotty. Dear CMA, I wasn't referring to members of the negotiating team (although having the info and understanding it are quite possibly two different things). Rather, I was thinking how much more helpful it would be if many of the people who came to show support for the teachers had remained to become more fully informed on the issues facing our schools. UPDATED: Superintendent on Lack of Teacher Contract: 'I Know There is Frustration'

As teachers have been wearing red shirts to publicly state they are without a contract, Framingham Superintendent of Schools addressed the lack of a contract and talked about negotiations at Tuesday night's School Committee meeting.

UPDATED at 10 a.m.- Added quotes from the Teachers Association President *** Framingham teachers, on certain days, have been wearing red shirts as a sign of solidarity while teaching. Currently, the Framingham Public Schools teachers are working without a contract. The current one-year contract expired in August. Negotiations began earlier this year with the School Committee and then Superintendent of Schools Steven Hiersche. In the past two weeks, emails have been circulating among parents about the contract. One email encourages parents to attend a December meeting in support of the teachers.
