3 Men Want To Be Appointed to Framingham School Committee

The Framingham School Committee and Selectmen will hold a joint meeting Wednesday to appoint one of the three candidates to replace Michael Bower, who was elected to the Board of Selectmen in April.

The Framingham School Committee received letters from three men, who would like to be appointed to the one-year School Committee seat. The seat is the remainder of the term for Michael Bower, who was elected to the Framingham Board of Selectmen last month. Pearl Street Garage Could Get MBTA Commuter Shuttle

And six other items from Tuesday night’s Board of Selectmen meeting.

Officials are discussing a plan with the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority to operate a shuttle bus from the the town’s Pearl St. parking garage to the MBTA commuter rail station. “The hope is that this service together with the fact that we have opened the garage up for free commuter parking will increase its use,” Town Manager Robert Halpin said. That in turn will make the parking lot safer for all, he added. Halpin said he and other officials met with MWRTA Director Ed Carr to discuss the proposal, which would utilize the so-called Banana Lot at the intersection of Pearl and Park streets for access to the train station. Applicants Sought To Fill Seventh School Committee Seat

Framingham School Committee announced applicants should submit letter of interest, if they wish to be appointed to fill the seat vacated by newly-elected Selectmen Michael Bower.

Framingham School Committee is looking for candidates interested in serving the final year of Michael Bower's term.  Bower resigned from the School Committee immediately upon his election to the Board of Selectmen in Tuesday's town-wide vote. Bower and Charles Sisitsky were running unopposed for two Selectmen seats. The seventh seat on the School Committee will be filled by a joint vote of the Framingham Selectmen and the Framingham School Committee, according to a procedure outlined in Massachusetts General Laws. Take Time to Vote in the Town Election Today

Framingham Voters can vote between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. today; the only town-wide contested race is for Planning Board where four individuals are vying for two seats.

Today is election day in Framingham. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the town's 18 precincts. If you are not sure where to vote, click here. Framingham has about 37,000 registered voters. In last year's Town Election, only 10% of registered voters voted. Officials are predicted about a 10% turnout today, too. Probably because there is only one town-wide contested race. Four candidates are running for two 3-year seats on the planning board. They are incumbents Susan Bernstein and Andrea Carr-Evans, and challengers Lew Colten and Victor Ortiz. The Framingham Sierra Club is hosting a Candidates Night, as a means to get to know the candidates for Planning Board and Selectmen, two of the most powerful boards in Framingham Town Government, tonight at 6:15 in the main Framingham Library.
