Last week, precincts held meetings to appoint new Town Meeting members to fill vacancies; those appointed will serve until April 2013.
Nine were appointment to Town Meeting last Wednesday. Precincts held meetings to appoint new Town Meeting members to fill vacancies. Since these are only appointments and they were not elected to these seats, the seat will become vacant and appear on the ballot in April 2013, said Assistant Town Clerk Lisa Ferguson. Due to redistricting, 9 precincts of the town's 18 precincts had all 12 Town Meeting member seats up for election. The top 4 vote getters earned a three-year term, the next four vote getters, received the two-year term and the next four received a 1-year term. Those precincts were 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18. In precincts 7, 11 and 18 there were ties. So on Wednesday, April 25 at 7 p.m. the Town Clerk will call the precincts together to fill any vacancies and precincts 7, 11 and 18 members will determine, which Town Meeting members will serve which term. There will be some new faces at Town Meeting this spring. Assistant Town Clerk Lisa Ferguson finalized the ballot for Town Meeting races for the April 3 election on Thursday. Valentine's Day at 5 p.m. was the deadline for newcomers to Town Meeting to submit nominations papers with 25 signatures. Incumbents were to have declared their intention to run for re-election on Tuesday, Feb. 7. Close to 100 people filled a room at the main Framingham library Saturday afternoon in what the Framingham Taxpayers Association called an "emergency meeting."
