Flyers Finish Second in Massachusetts Pentathlon

For the second year in a row, the Framingham High boys track team finished second in the Massachusetts State Coaches Team Pentathlon.

For the second year in a row, Framingham High boys track team finished second in the Massachusetts State Coaches team. And for the second year in a row, Newton North won. "We had some great performances from a young squad," said head coach Chris Collins. In the 55 hurdles, captain Luke Halberstadt finished in 8.71 seconds. In the long jump, sophomore Tiago Torres jumped 17-feet and 7-inches. Senior Brian Gilligan ran the 1000 in 2:47 minutes. Senior captain Andrew Petricone threw the shot put 41-feet, 7-inches.

Flyers Finish 7th in States; Groleau has 11th Best 1000M Time in Nation [Video]

Senior captain Ben Groleau won the 1,000-meter at the Eastern Ma Division 1 Championships Sunday, with the 11th best time in the nation. He and his teammates Bo Lewis and Jake Devlin qualified for the all-states meet next Sunday.

Framingham High's indoor boys track team had its best finish ever at the Eastern Ma Division 1 Championship on Sunday, said head coach Chris Collins. "The Flyers placed 7th overall at the Eastern MA Division 1 Championships today," said Collins. Senior captain Ben Groleau won the 1,000-meter race, breaking his own school record with a time of 2:30.10, said Collins. It was the fourth fastest time in Massachusetts this season, according to www.atheltic.net. And according to the announcer at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Groleau's time was the 11th best time in the nation. Groleau will compete in the All-States meet Sunday. Framingham Flyers girls indoor track team defeated the Mustangs of Norwood 53-42 Wednesday night at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

4X400 Boys Indoor Relay Team Wins State Coaches Title

The boys 4x400 team ran a Framingham High indoor record time and won the state coaches event with a time of 3:29.94; the Flyers set four records this weekend.

The all-seniors team of Lawrence Serugo (51.71), Dan Fitzpatrick (54.70), Ben Groleau (52.59) and Bo Lewis (50.94) came from behind to win it with Lewis nipping two runnners on the last straightaway, said coach Chris Collins. Groleau Sets Mile Record for Bay State Conference

Framingham High girls and boys track teams both lose to Brookline Thursday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Framingham High boys indoor track captain Ben Groleau set the Bay State Conference's indoor mile record with a time of 4:21.74 minutes on Thursday, in a meet against Brookline at the Reggie Lewis Center. The Framingham High track team, however, lost to Brookline.   Senior captain Ben Lewis won three events - the long jump at 18'7", the 55-yard dash at 7.04 seconds and the 300-meter at 36.60 seconds. Groleau placed second to Lewis in the 300, his first time ever running in that event, almost qualifying for his fifth solo state meet event, said head coach Chris Collins. His time was 38.58. Three Teams Make State Playoffs

Keefe Tech boys basketball, Marian boys hockey and Framingham girls hockey will all be playing state tounament games this week.

Three Framingham teams, one from each of the three high schools in town, will be heading into state tournament play this week. Additionally, three Framingham High wrestlers will be competing in the All New England Championships in New Haven Friday and Saturday. WRESTLING: Framingham’s Sa places second in All-State tournament The Flyers’ Gil Sa lost by a 10-3 decision to Needham’s James Carroll in the finals of the 130-pound class during the All-State tourney at Salem High on Saturday. “I was a little off my game,” said Sa. “I was more cautious than normal and I didn’t take any risks. Framingham came home from the Division 1 wrestling tournament with a state championship to highlight last week’s sports schedule as the winter season begins to wind down. Two Framingham runners advanced to the All-meet this weekend. On the ice, the Flyers’ boys hockey team needs two wins in its final two games this week in order to qualify for the state playoffs. 7 Wrestlers To Compete at States

Flyer Sarah Bowhill won the mile in 5:16.48 to become Bay State Conference championm while Ben Groleau became the Bay State League champion in the 1,000, with his winning performance of 2 minutes, 38.45 seconds.

WRESTLING: Flyers send 7 to states Framingham will have seven wrestlers in the Division I state tournament this Saturday, Feb. 19 at Methuen High. The seven qualified for the tournament after their performances at the Division 1 Central Sectional tournament in Lexington. Three Framingham wrestlers -- Gil Sa (130 pounds), Robert Coukos (145) and Mike Patterson (189) -- became individual champions in the sectionals and will lead the Framingham wrestlers in the Division I tournament. Framingham will have 7 wrestlers in the state tournament, the most for any team. Framingham dropped its final dual meet of the season to Weymouth, 46-15, on Wednesday. Wrestlers, Gymnasts Had A Perfect Week

The Framingham High wrestlers and gymnasts couldn't lose last week, as the squads picked up six wins.

Framingham High’s wrestling team remained undefeated in the Bay State Conference by rolling to four victories last week while the Flyers gymnastics team won both of its meets. The sports schedule was decimated by snow days last week and some dates for games postponed still need to be determined. WRESTLING: Flyers feast on conference foes Framingham was unstoppable Saturday, Jan. 29 as nine wrestlers won all three of their matches in a quad meet at Dedham. The Flyers scored easy wins over Braintree, 63-12; Dedham, 63-9; and Wellesley, 68-4. The three wins push the Flyer’s dual meet mark to 12-3 overall and 9-0 in the Conference. This week, Framingham will square off against Natick on Wednesday in a 7 p.m. match in Natick. Winning all three …

Framingham's boys swim team recorded two victories, while the boys and girls hockey each notched a win.

Framingham High's boys swim team had two wins last week while the boys basketball team and the boys track team each recorded its first wins of the season. Both the boys and girls hockey teams skated to wins during the week.There’s a full schedule of games this week as the schedule shows a Framingham contest every day. HOCKEY: Framingham flexes muscles against Newton North Framingham returned to the business of winning hockey games Saturday night (Jan.15) with a commanding 5-2 victory over Newton North at Loring Arena. The win gives the Flyers a much needed win in the powerful Bay State Conference and runs Framingham’s record to 3-6-1 overall, 3-5 in the Conference.
