Framingham Girl Scouts is holding two registration events: Monday Oct. 1 and Monday, Oct. 22.
Last year, more than 450 girls in Framingham were a part of Girl Scouting. On Monday, Oct 1, Framingham Girl Scouts is holding a registration event at First United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. Scouts living in Framingham or attending a Framingham school in grades K-12, are welcome to join. The annual national membership fee is $12. Framingham Girl Scouts are part of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts Council. Some Troops charge additional dues and there are fees for some town and Council activities. There will be a second registration event on Monday, Oct. 22 at the main Framingham Library at 7 p.m. Adults volunteers are also needed to help with existing Troops or to co-run a new Troop. Framingham Girl Scouts received $2,000 from The Framingham Co-operative Bank Charitable Foundation to defray the cost for 42 Scouts to travel to the nation’s capital to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts. Framingham Girl Scouts headed to Washington DC in June for the 100th celebration of Girl Scouts want to thanks those who supported their car wash this weekend.
The Framingham Girl Scouts 100th Anniversary Committee wants to thank all the patrons who supported our car wash on Saturday. We raised $600 towards our trip to Washington DC in June. The girls washed more than 100 cars during the 5 hours. About 10% of the 450-plus Girl Scouts in Framingham will travel to the nation's capital to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts with thousands of Girl Scouts across the United States. The Committee also wants to thank CJ's Northside Grill owner Chris Gagen who allowed us to hold our car wash in his parking lot. Gagen told the committee this was the busiest car wash he has seen. Framingham Girl Scouts celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts with a Mass Sunday at St. Bridget Church.
Annually, St. Bridget Church holds a Scout Sunday Mass during Girl Scout Week in March. This year, as Girl Scouts turned 100 years old on March 12, several Framingham Scouts wore vintage American Girl Scout and international Scout uniforms, during the Mass. More than 60 Scouts participated in the Mass Sunday, March 11, organized by Mary Ann Sager.
