Knox Trail Scout Executive Director To Retire

Dennis Prefontaine’s has served as Boy Scout of America Knox Trail’s first and only executive director; a Life Scout, the Holliston resident joined the Cub Scouts in 1954 and was awarded the Life Saving Award for helping a young man having a seizure.

Boy Scouts of America Knox Trail Council Executive Director Dennis Prefontaine will retire on Dec. 31, after four decades working with Scouts. A Life Scout, Prefontaine joined the Cub Scouts in 1954 and was awarded the Life Saving Award for his part in assisting a young man having a seizure and is a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow where he received the Order of the Arrow Distinguished Service Award. Being a professional with the Boy Scouts of America is the only job he has had since graduating from New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University) in 1970. Knox Trail Boy Scouts May Vote To Ignore Anti-Gay Stance

When the Knox Trail Boy Scouts Council Board of Directors meets Thursday, they may vote to take action against the National Boy Scouts anti-gay policy.

When the Knox Trail Boy Scouts Council Board of Directors meets Thursday night, they may vote to take action against the National Boy Scouts anti-gay policy. The Council represents Framingham and 20 other communities in Massachusetts. The possible vote comes after more than half of the parents of Framingham Cub Scout Pack 12, based out of Plymouth Church, sent a letter in September to the executive director of The Knox Trail Council of Boy Scouts, stating they have and will continue to ignore the anti-gay policy of Boy Scouts of America. What I continue to have issue with is - if you are paying dues of any kind, that money goes right back into BS so they can further discriminate against the LGBT population. If you disagree with the policy, why allow your dollars to fund it? Imagine what would happen if the BS had to suspend all the charters of those who disagreed? Jason Smith To Be Awarded the 2012 Framingham Good Scout Award

The Good Scout Award is bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated integrity and genuine concern for others in both their professional and personal lives.

For his involvment with youth in Framingham, Knox Trail Council Boy Scouts of America will award Jason Smith of Framingham with the 2012 Framingham Good Scout Award later this month. The Good Scout Award is bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated integrity and genuine concern for others in both their professional and personal lives. The recipients need not have been Scouts but must carry the “Spirit of Scouting” into their adult lives.  Smith has been very involved in with youth sports teams in Framingham including baseball, football and basketball. As a coach, he has served as a role model to many Framingham youth over the years. Smith has served on the Framingham Board of Selectman since 2006.  He is a past mentor of the John …

Janet Leombruno To Receive the Good Scout Award

The Knox Trail Council of Boy Scouts will honor Framingham resident and volunteer Janet Leombruno Thursday evening, Sept. 15.

The Knox Trail Council of the Boy Scoutsof America is holding a reception to honor Framingham resident Janet Leombruno on Thursday, Sept. 15 at Ken's Steak House. Born and raised in Framingham, Leombruno attended Stapleton Elementary School and Cameron Middle School. She graduated from Framingham North in 1981. Always a trail blazer, she was one of the first two girls in Framingham to play Little League baseball. She has volunteered at the YMCA to help young children in many activities and excelled in training youngsters gymnastics. For 13 years, she volunteered for numerous programs at Hemenway Elementary. Leombruno has coached soccer for Framingham United Soccer Club for 6 years. She has coached baseball in Framingham for 13 years …

Boy Scout Den 9 Visits Henry Knox Trail

Den 9 Leader Phil Paget and his wife Chistine led a group of 8-year-old boys on a tour of the Henry Knox trail on Thursday evening.

Framingham's Boy Scout Den 9 is part of Pack 78, the Henry Knox Trail Council in the Boy Scouts of America. According to Den Leader Phil Paget, the group of 10 8-year old boys was visiting the Henry Knox Trail as part of their study of Framingham's history on Thursday, Sept. 8. Phil tells Framingham Patch, "Between Dec. 7, 1775 and Jan. 24, 1776, General Henry Knox and his men transported cannons from Fort Ticonderoga to Cambridge. Part of the trail goes through Framingham."    Boy Scout Connor McDonald commented, "I think that (Henry Knox) should be really proud of what he did."
